Accounting and Payroll Clerk

Position Summary:

Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Establish tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts. Compile and record employee time and payroll data. May compute employees' time worked production and commissions. May compute and post wages and deductions or prepare paychecks.

Essential Functions:

  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, and insurance and other deductions.
  • Poll electronic time clocks (E-time software) and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Contact various department supervisors for any missed times.
  • Process weekly transfer of payroll data to payroll system.
  • Compile internal management reports from payroll system software.
  • Accounts Payable for multiple units.
  • Working with store managers to ensure proper operating procedures are followed.
  • Maintaining vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Delivery of weekly cost reports to units in a timely manner.
  • Verification of employee expense reports.
  • Preparation of weekly check runs.
  • Other duties as directed by Asst. Controller.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Working environment:

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school or two or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two to three years of experience using accounting and payroll systems.
